I know exactly how it feels to want to grow a variety of herbs, but no idea where to start.

I didn't know which herbs to plant in containers, and which ones I could plant in the ground. I also wondered how I could companion plant herbs together.

I'll tell you, I made a lot of mistakes. I companion planted herbs I shouldn't have (like peppermint with anything), and I planted herbs in my raised beds that were best suited for containers (like oregano). And I planted two herbs with different watering needs in the same pot, causing one or the other to suffer (like thyme and lemon balm).

But now that I've learned a few basics -- which are actually pretty simple -- I grow about a dozen different herbs that thrive. Not only can I harvest many of them year-round, but I also dry them to stock my spice cabinet.
